Have you ever head the saying, “a picture is worth a thousand words?” I am sure you have, which is why graphic design and computer aided design has become so important in past decade for online marketing and online companies. The two main tools that a graphic design artist uses are image and typography.

Image Based Designs are designed to send a certain message without the use om much content or verbiage associated with the image. This is where the saying above comes into play. For example: an image of a red sports car assumes that this car is always going to go fast and that is not the case, but that is an assumption. the car may indeed go fast, but it depends on the driver that is operating the vehicle. A picture or an image is designed to play on our emotions and how we associate that picture to our own real life situations and experiences. Another example would be a newborn baby. Typically people think of cute, innocent and adorable. These are just a few examples of how images are used.

Typography uses images along with text or content to portray a reaction or message. Think of the baby for etrade talking about stocks, bonds and trading online. they make it seem like anyone can do it. There are many of these types of ads and images used along with content that sends different messages to different people.
